I can confirm this bug. Have it for a few weeks now.
Using a 64 bit Intrepid (proposed repository enabled).
I try to describe this behaviour in that way:
I start my computer but the "ready, waiting to login drum sound" is not there.
Then I log in and when the Ubuntu login sound should come, the drums come. And
a few seconds after that the Ubuntu login successful sound.
