Hi Mariusmihasan, Did you upgrade gnome from a previous version?if yes,maybe you can update your gconf-schema database first $sudo gconf-schemas --register-all then make sure that draw_background is true $gconftool --set --type bool /desktop/gnome/background/draw_background true
