Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
new packages for evolution-common are version 2.24.3-0ubuntu1, however evolution itself is still 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 for x64. trying to do apt-get I get the following error: $ sudo apt-get install evolution Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: evolution: Depends: evolution-common (= 2.24.2-0ubuntu1) but 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 is to be installed E: Broken packages after playing a bit with trying to get this to work, looking at what I used to have, I get the following: $ dpkg -l|grep evol rc evolution 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 groupware suite with mail client and organiz rc evolution-common 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 architecture independent files for Evolution rc evolution-exchange 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 Exchange plugin for the Evolution groupware rc evolution-rss 0.1.0-1ubuntu2 Evolution RSS Reader Plugin rc libebackend1.2-0 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Utility library for evolution data servers rc libebook1.2-9 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Client library for evolution address books rc libecal1.2-7 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Client library for evolution calendars rc libedata-book1.2-2 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Backend library for evolution address books rc libedata-cal1.2-6 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Backend library for evolution calendars ii libedataserver1.2-11 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 Utility library for evolution data servers rc libedataserver1.2-9 2.22.3-0ubuntu2 Utility library for evolution data servers rc libedataserverui1.2-8 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 GUI utility library for evolution data serve Been using linux in a windows environment, like many others, I guess, so this problem became a real killer... complementary info: $ lsb_release LSB Version: core-2.0-amd64:core-2.0-noarch:core-3.0-amd64:core-3.0-noarch:core-3.1-amd64:core-3.1-noarch:core-3.2-amd64:core-3.2-noarch:desktop-3.1-amd64:desktop-3.1-noarch:desktop-3.2-amd64:desktop-3.2-noarch:graphics-2.0-amd64:graphics-2.0-noarch:graphics-3.0-amd64:graphics-3.0-noarch:graphics-3.1-amd64:graphics-3.1-noarch:graphics-3.2-amd64:graphics-3.2-noarch:qt4-3.1-amd64:qt4-3.1-noarch $ apt-cache policy evolution evolution: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 Version table: 2.24.2-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- apt-get upgrade of 01/13/2009 uninstalled evolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316918 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
