Hey, Same here. Ubuntu 8.10, Totem 2.24.2 using GStreamer 0.10.21 with ATI Radeon HD 3470. I Don't know how to check wether Compiz is enabled. But when selecting the Compiz application in the Gnome Menu (Applications > Other > Compiz), the screen flickers and window manager returns to a normal desktop view.
