Hi Sebastien, I am sorry there was no update on this front for quite some time, I had lent my iPod to a friend of mine.
However, the problem persists. I reported the bug for the case when I am not even playing a song, have deleted the song from the iPod and yet Rhythmbox prevents ejection of the iPod. In the attached screenshot, you can see that if I am playing a song from the iPod's playlist, I cannot eject it. Only after I start playing something from my local collection can I eject my iPod, either by the context menu in the sidebar, or by using the Eject button on the toolbar. This behavior, I think, is acceptable if I am playing something from my iPod, but not when I have paused rhythmbox, deleted that song and am trying to eject the iPod. :) Anyways, it might be a system issue with my particular mount options (maybe)?
