Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit
When trying to replace the space character " " with nothing "" on a relatively small file with many spaces in it on on line, gedit seems to hang or is just taking way too long to perform this operation! Use the attached file for demonstration purposes and follow along: 1) open attached file spaces.txt with gedit 2.12.1 2) Choose Search->Replace from the menu bar (CTRL-R) 3) Enter a space character, " " (don't include quotes), in the 'Search for' field, and enter nothing in the 'Replace with' field. 4) Now click "Replace All" and watch how slow it is!
