Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller
As far as I can tell, file-roller is not available through the GUI in a default Ubuntu install. No "Archive Manager" or "file-roller" option is available on any menus, even though the program is installed. This means that in order to create a zip file you have to know that the program exists, you have to know that it's called "file-roller" (which is unlikely to be guessed by someone), and you have to run it manually from a terminal or from Alt+F2's run dialog. This essentially means that a new user will conclude that Ubuntu cannot create zip files, even though it can. ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- File-roller is not on any menus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
