Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 alpha 5

e...@eid-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-session
gnome-session:
  Installed: 2.25.92-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.25.92-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.25.92-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Compiz should start if it was enabled in the previous session whatever
it has active or disabled entry in startup applications

If there is an entry for compiz in gnome-session-properties this will block
compiz from running on startup.
To repeat this bug:
1- Create an entry for compiz in gnome-session-properties
2- In command box put compiz --replace
3- Disable this entry
4-logout and then login
5-Compiz won't start

I attached the xsession errors file. I think the error is here

gnome-session[5025]: DEBUG(+): GsmManager:ID: /org/gnome/SessionManager
/App11app-id:compiz.desktopis-disabled:1is-conditionally-disabled:0"
