Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

recently with Jaunty 9.04 I have had problems with the panels
disappearing, in the sense that some specific parts are accessible while
others such as the drop down menus are unable to be clicked. The strange
thing is anything on the desktop is accessible, and the user menu is but
everything else just disappears. The only way to bring it all back is
restart. Now initially it was just when I changed the theme or the
desktop that was happening now just moments ago yet again. This is with
an S3 Unichrome Pro IGP and has only been happening recently. I am
trying to figure out who is dealing with this same bug and if there is
some kind of workaround. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Resoultion would really be a step in the right direction. If you need
further information let me know.

What was expected that I would be able to change the theme and return to
a functional system, instead I would have to restart the system
everytime something changed. Making the system much more difficult to
use.

Using
AMD 64 3200
2 gigs of ram & 64mb shared video memory
