Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Hello. I use gedit 2.25.8 in jaunty with latest updates.
Bug: "save anyway" dialog shows up even if backup turned off.
Steps to reproduce: Go to Edit - Preferences - Editor - "Create a backup copy
of files before saving" and unmarked it.
What should happens: gedit should silently saves changed content of file.
What happens: gedit shows up notification with "Could not create a temporary
backup file while saving <file>" message _each_ time, when content of file has
been changed and user press "Save", so user should each time, when he saves
content, press "Save Anyway" button - it's very annoying.

** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
