I also confirm this. I have every partition of the system showing up on Computer, but not on the places menu or the desktop. I have an entry for the root volume, another for filesystem, although they point to the same place. I also have a /home entry that points to my /home partition, and a Windows XP entry that points to the NTFS Windows partition (Windows XP is the label for that partition). There are also the usual CD-RW/DVD±R and Floppy icons. The NTFS partition shows up on the desktop and places menu too, but the other partitions don't.
