Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
I have a Dell Laptop using the fglrx driver. Its native resolution is 1920 x 1200. Often I will connect it to an external monitor. The external monitor has a lower resolution (1680 x 1050). When I try to change the resolution to 1680 x 1050 after boot up (and connected to the external monitor), the screen will flash a few times and then stay at 1920 x 1200, which is too big for the monitor, so you get the virtual desktop scrolling. I can retry many times and it still won't work. But if I wait like 5 minutes after boot up, often it will then work. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.04.2 Release: 8.04 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Mar 24 10:15:24 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-display-properties NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.22.1-0ubuntu4.1 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-control-center Uname: Linux 2.6.24-23-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- changing screen resolution doesn't always work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347944 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
