There is no error or something reported in the ~/.xsession-errors file after trying to change the cursor. OS: ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty beta with all updates installed I also noticed that all pointers (except the default that works fine) work under the firefox and openoffice window (I tried several apps) . When moving the pointer above the application menu (firefox) or when i minimize the window, the pointer changes to default. Hope this helps
