Ah, I forgot to say that this only happens if the laptop is suspended
for some time, perhaps to let the smb host timeout the connection and
close the handle in the meanwhile.

The totem player was paused before suspending the laptop. After resume,
it played a few seconds (perhaps cache somewhere) and then it freezes.
