The gnome volume control (that works with media keys) changes too fast when the
volume is almost maxed, and very slowly when the volume is low. This causes the
sound to be almost completely silent when the volume bar is halfway.
Since the human ear is sensitive to volume at an logaritmic scale
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel#Acoustics), the volume control should
work accordingly.
Occuring on a Dell Latitude D830, but most likely on most other models.
