Public bug reported:

Release: 8.04 Hardy
Version: nautilus 1:2.22.5.1-ubuntu1

When you bring up the nautilus-connect-server dialog, it supplies the option to
connect to a "Windows Share," regardless of whether samba is installed.
If samba is not installed, when trying to connect it will give an error dialog
that says:

Can't display location
"smb://ip.ip.ip.ip/"
No application is registered as handling this file

I am filing this as a bug because this is not the behavior one would
expect. If samba is not installed, it should not give the option to
connect to windows shares. It should at least explain how to enable
them, or automatically install the needed services, like the "folder
sharing" dialog does.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
