Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit
a) No idea what Ubuntu version I have as that information is well hidden (extremely annoying). b) The Update Manager claims everything is up to date as of one hour ago. c) The Windows applications I have tried (gedit, gimp) `disappear' as soon as I click on menu items `Open', `Save', `Save-As' e) Found a) above by reading the Ubuntu notes below (how archaic to have to go to a command line and enter a non-intuitive command, ie `gobbledy-gook'): Description: Ubuntu 8.04.2 Release: 8.04 f) From Package Manager: gedit version 2.22.3-0Ubuntu2 g) Opened gedit, typed some text, clicked on File | Save-As, expected a screen to ask for a file name, however gedit just disappeared (closed).
