** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

After booting my HP NC8000 laptop PC, I place a data CD in my laptop's
CD drive and go to Places--> Computer and double-click on the CD-RW/DVD-
ROM Drive shortcut. When I do this, I get the following error message:

  Unable to mount location
  Can't mount file

There is also a DBus error message that pops up when I place a data disc
  in the CD drive.

I also cannot open DVD or CD Audio discs and get the same error as
  above:

  Unable to mount location
  Can't mount file

This error has been reported several times with users running Ubuntu
8.10, please see the following posts:

  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1118041&highlight=unable+mount+CDROM

  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1047843&highlight=unable+mount+CDROM

I have attached the output of lspci and dmesg to this report, please
update with any additional logfile/information you need.

  Regards,

  JB

+ *****Additional information and how I am to reproduce the problem******
+ It appears from my basic set of tests that this problem appears when I place
a new disc in the drive. The disc spins up, the CD light turns on, but when I
try to access the CD in nautilus (explorer), I get:
+
+ Unable to mount location
+ Can't mount file
+
+
+ However, if I eject the CD tray and then close it again, the drive spins up
and after about 1 minute of reading the disc, the disc appears with an icon in
nautilus. I am then able to open it and copy its contents.
+
+ Also, if I place a bootable CD in the drive during boot, I can boot from
+ the disc so the problem does not appear to be the drive or media, just
+ Ubuntu.
+
+ I have also attached a screenshot of the occasional DBus error message
+ that pops up when I place a CD data disc in the drive.
+
+ Below is the output of my /etc/fstab:
+
