The fix is only partial. Evolution realizes when the internet connection is lost/disabled while it is running. But when I close Evolution while there is connectivity, then disable networking, then re-start Evolution, it does not switch to offline mode but tries to contact the server(s). This used to work before Intrepid, if I'm not mistaken.
