Public bug reported:

Current behaviour: when trying to format a mounted floppy disk, you get
one of three errors, one of which is totally unhelpful, and the other
two of which are overly technical.

Expected behaviour: at the very least, gfloppy should check if the drive
is mounted and tell the user. However, I see no reason not to unmount
automatically.

More info: the current messages:

With a quick FAT format:

The filesystem creation utility (/sbin/mkdosfs) reported the following
errors:

mkdosfs: /dev/fd0 contains a mounted file system.
 (50)

With a quick ext2 format:

The filesystem creation utility (/sbin/mke2fs) reported the following
errors:

/dev/fd0 is mounted; will not make a filesystem here!
 (54)

With either a 'Standard' or 'Thorough' format:

Error formatting track #0

** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
