I attempted a reboot, got more text error messages then the dialog box: Warning: could not generate /etc/x11/xorg.conf.failsafe for vesa driver.
I clicked "ok" The ubuntu graphic progress bar appeared, screen went blank, and control went to the Bios, and another attempt at booting, again, and again.
