Yes, I don't believe this is either a Firefox nor a GDM bug. However, I
wasn't sure what package to file this under.

I have found that this behavior exists in Firefox 3.0.* (before I
upgraded) and still exists in Firefox 3.5.* (after I upgraded). I'm on
still happy with Jaunty, therefore haven't upgraded to a Karmic alpha
(though I have installed in in a VM to see what sort of progress has
been made).

The focus follows mouse setting is (as mentioned in the forum
discussion) under System -> Preferences -> Windows. Under the 'Window
Selection' category, the check box is 'Select windows when the mouse
moves over them'. This is known as 'focus follows mouse' in many other
window managers. I believe this setting defaults to 'off'.

My second guess as to where the bug exists is possibly in Compiz. I
have found (again as mentioned in the forum discussion) that if I switch
to Metacity rather than Compiz, this bug doesn't exist. This tells me
that the focus follows mouse code is implemented slightly differently
between the two windows managers, enough that the full screen flash
window closes in Compiz and not Metacity.

All of this is simply what our discussion and initial poking around has
unveiled about this behavior. I could be completely off track as to
where the actual bug exists.

Three of us in the forums have been able to reproduce this behavior. Is
anyone else able to?
