   Bug #385633 { [karmic] display doesn't go to DPMS sleep }
   Bug #415589 {g-p-m does not turn off the display after specified time-out}
+  Bug #409834 {Delay in opening power manager preferences}

- These three combined have started to give serious screen burn-ins in the
- LCD.
+ These first two combined with this bug have started to give serious
+ screen burn-ins in the LCD.

  These problems did not exist in Jaunty , this is a regression.

  My temporary workaround for this is
  1: Locking the screen , this activates the screensaver but the screen does
not shut off[Bug #415589]
  2: using $xset dpms force off
