Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

When opening gnome-system-monitor, the CPU is heavily used.
I will give you some examples on a core 2 duo P8600 2.4 Ghz.
I read the usage values in "top" from a command shell

TAB SYSTEM: 5-6% (constant usage)
TAB PROCESSES: 10-15% (constant usage)
TAB RESOURCES: 8-9% (constant usage)
TAB FILE SYSTEM: 8-9% (constant usage)

This is absolutely not justifiable, especially in the system and file system
tab.
Instead in the processes tab, the cpu usage should be similar to the one used
by "top", which is 0~3%. Also top updates the processes list every 3 seconds,
exactly like the system monitor.
