Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 (desktop editiion) on Asus Eee PC 1000H.
Everything is default: Gnome and all patches installed.

I observe two problems:

1) State of brightness applet is not synchronized with real monitor
brightness. Let me describe in details: Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 combinations
decrease and increase display brightness correspondingly. This is OK.
But state of "Power Manager Brightness Applet 2.24.2" is not in sync
with real brightness. For example, I can decrease brightness to minimum
with help of keyboard shortcut Fn+F5, but brightness applet shows
maximum brightness.

2) The second issue that brightness goes to the applet level absolutely
sporadically. I.e. I change brightness from keyboard, do something
(typing text) and after minute brightness goes to the level, which is
specified in brightness applet. Since applet level is not synchronized
with real level (applet level is maximum after boot), I observe display
flash. The only possible way to fix this annoyance - is to change
brightness level only from applet. But this is very inconvenient.

** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Package changed: qt4-x11 (Ubuntu) => gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
