Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility
I am using mdadm RAID1 created during the instalation using alternate CD. After log in, the window with the message "One or more disks are failing" appears, the session starts properly, but there is small disk icon in the Notification Area (see attached screenshot). When click on the name of the disk, the Palimpsest application starts and all disks are without errors. When closed, the disk icon stays in the Notification Area. devkit-disks --show-info /dev/sda devkit-disks --show-info /dev/sdb are returning "bad sectors: Yes" (see bellow) the same command for the /dev/md0, /dev/md1, /dev/sda1, /dev/sda5, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdb5 does not return any error. I have found similar symptoms/problem described in the bug 421263 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421263 ) ============================================= r...@korzar-ubuntu:~# devkit-disks --show-info /dev/sdb Showing information for /org/freedesktop/DeviceKit/Disks/devices/sdb native-path: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0f.0/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0/block/sdb device: 8:16 device-file: /dev/sdb by-id: /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD740GD-00FLA0_WD-WMAKE1097108 by-id: /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_WDC_WD740GD-00FWD-WMAKE1097108 by-path: /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:0f.0-scsi-1:0:0:0 detected at: Ne 6. září 2009, 10:07:06 CEST system internal: 1 removable: 0 has media: 1 (detected at Ne 6. září 2009, 10:07:06 CEST) detects change: 0 detection by polling: 0 detection inhibitable: 0 detection inhibited: 0 is read only: 0 is mounted: 0 mount paths: mounted by uid: 0 presentation hide: 0 presentation nopolicy: 0 presentation name: presentation icon: size: 74355769344 block size: 512 job underway: no usage: type: version: uuid: label: partition table: scheme: mbr count: 3 drive: vendor: ATA model: WDC WD740GD-00FLA0 revision: 21.08U21 serial: WD-WMAKE1097108 detachable: 0 can spindown: 1 rotational media: 1 ejectable: 0 media: compat: interface: ata if speed: (unknown) ATA SMART: Updated at Ne 6. září 2009, 17:37:07 CEST assessment: Unknown bad sectors: Yes attributes: Within threshold temperature: 41° C / 106° F powered on: 1,47e+03 days offline data: suspended (2385 second(s) to complete) self-test status: success or never (0% remaining) ext./short test: available conveyance test: available start test: available abort test: available short test: 2 minute(s) recommended polling time ext. test: 37 minute(s) recommended polling time conveyance test: 5 minute(s) recommended polling time =============================================================================== Attribute Current/Worst/Threshold Status Value Type Updates =============================================================================== raw-read-error-rate 200/200/ 51 good 0 Prefail Online spin-up-time 72/ 67/ 21 good 4,9 secs Prefail Online start-stop-count 100/100/ 40 good 532 Old-age Online reallocated-sector-count 191/191/140 good 137 sectors Prefail Online seek-error-rate 100/253/ 51 good 0 Prefail Online power-on-hours 52/ 52/ 0 n/a 1,47e+03 days Old-age Online spin-retry-count 100/100/ 51 good 0 Prefail Online calibration-retry-count 100/100/ 51 good 0 Prefail Online power-cycle-count 100/100/ 0 n/a 481 Old-age Online temperature-celsius-2 106/ 96/ 0 n/a 41C / 106F Old-age Online reallocated-event-count 182/182/ 0 n/a 18 Old-age Online current-pending-sector 200/200/ 0 n/a 0 sectors Old-age Online offline-uncorrectable 200/200/ 0 n/a 0 sectors Old-age Online udma-crc-error-count 200/253/ 0 n/a 0 Old-age Online multi-zone-error-rate 200/179/ 51 good 0 Prefail Offline ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Sep 6 17:45:05 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: gnome-disk-utility 0.5-0ubuntu3 ProcEnviron: LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.29-generic SourcePackage: gnome-disk-utility Uname: Linux 2.6.31-9-generic x86_64 ** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug palimpsest -- while log in, the message "One or more disks are failing" apears, but RAID1 disks seem to be OK https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425268 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
