Hi. I have this problem under up-to-date Jaunty. When running users- admin, either from the menu or from the command-line, if I create a new user, it adds it to the list. But, then, if I close the users-admin window and re-open it, the new user isn't there. Looking in /etc/passwd, there is no new entry, but there is a new entry in /etc/group. The home dir is not created. Running users-admin from the command line, I can see these messages:
(users-admin:5369): Liboobs-CRITICAL **: create_dbus_struct_from_user: assertion `(login && password && homedir && shell)' failed (users-admin:5369): Liboobs-CRITICAL **: Not committing due to inconsistencies in the configuration, this reflects a bug in the application The command-line adduser command works correctly. I also ran this command: sudo perl /usr/share/system-tools- backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl --platform ubuntu-9.04 -v -m UserConfig Which gave me this: begin::Start of work report. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [uname]. file_run_pipe_success::Piping command [LC_ALL=C PATH=$PATH:/sbin:/usr/sbin /bin/uname -s 2> /dev/null |] for reading. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [usermod]. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [userdel]. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [useradd]. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [adduser]. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [deluser]. file_locate_tool_success::Found tool [chfn]. file_locate_tool_failed::Couldn't find tool [pw]. ...and then it apparently hang. No further response.
