Oh, I didn't know you could even do that.  It wasn't mentioned
in the Evince Document Viewer Manual (as far as I could tell).
Also, removing an accidentally assigned shortcut is not
intuitive.  When the View menu appeared like this:

Toolbar          X
Side Pane       F9

I highlighted "Toolbar" and tried ESC and SPACE.  ESC exited the
menu and SPACE scrolled the document.  Then I found that it was
way too easy to accidentally remove another function's shortcut
key (eg. you could clear all the shortcuts in the View menu by
pressing F5 F9 F11).  I eventually found that BACKSPACE was what
I was looking for, and that I could find the defaults in the
manual if I accidentally cleared them, but I consider this a bug
since none of it is not mentioned in the manual...
