Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I did a fresh installation of Karmic RC. During the installation, I
marked the autologin checkbox. After reboot, I was not autologged in the
gdm login screen. I did login and then I opened the dialog for
configuring gdm under "System-Administration" menu. I unlocked it and
disabled autologin, then I closed the dialog. I opened it again,
unlocked again, and enabled autologin, without time waiting. I closed
the dialog and reboot the machine. No autologin.

I attach my /etc/gdm/custom.conf and my /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas. The
problem is on a Lenovo 3000 c200 laptop. Intel graphics card, 1gb ram,
dual core processor 32bits. Please ask me any kind of additional
information that you need.

I also tried these commands that I saw in another old issue here in
launchpad, but they didn't work for me:

sudo update-rc.d -f gdm remove
sudo update-rc.d gdm defaults

I used ubuntu since several releases, and I never had this problem
before.

Thanks
