Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Hello,

i wondered why i m not able to set volume of my different channels on my
Audigy card with the new volume control. I also need to run the
"alsamixer" console program the push up the level of the "Analog MIx" to
get any line in or microphone input. Outherwise I wouldnt record any
sound from my line in/mic. First I thought it is a problem with the new
volume control, that these features are not implemented, but after some
reading time i knew it should work. Users from the gnome channel from
freenode told me to make a bugreport about the ALSA profile of my card.
The "Analog Mix" in capture should be set to maximum level by default
and the channel control for 5.1 should work. I find only the control for
"balance" on output, nothing more.

I am using now the Ubuntu Karmic Koala RC with all updates.
