Hi,
On final Karmic release, I ran:
1) dbus-monitor --session
"type='signal',interface='org.freedesktop.PowerManagement'"
2) lshal -m

And opened and closed the lid. In both cases, there was no log output at all
other than the initial start-up messages from those commands.
I then unplugged the AC cable and repeated the tests - again, no results, and
no suspend.

However checking /proc/acpi/button/lid/C1C4/state does show it reading
"closed" when the lid is shut.

This is a system which was upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic the other day.
I've checked, and the gnome-power-manager settings *do* have it set to 'Suspend
when lid is closed', on both battery and AC power.
