I want to clarify that I mean with "external monitor is activated" that
external monitor is switched on and shows a left part of virtual desktop
together with internal monitor showing left part of virtual desktop and
not that it is enabled in monitor settings tool.

Same behavior I described in Replay #2  in answer to the 2. question
occurs  if you open monitor settings tool instead of running "xrandr -q"
in step 4.
