The second file (at the URL you posted) seems to be corrupt/invalid.

Embedding fonts into a PDF file is normally a good idea, if they are
fonts other than those listed in section 5.1 - Standard Type 1 Fonts at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF , but in this case:

pdffonts also gives repeated instances of "Error: Mismatch between font
type and embedded font file".  It also shows that several fonts are
embedded, and that these have been defined as Type 1 fonts.

I conclude that the embedded fonts are not actually Type 1, but some
other type, and have been incorrectly defined.

In this particular instance pdfinfo does not provide Creator or Producer
info, possibly because PDF version 1.2 does not support these items of
metadata?

I suggest that you contact the Museu Nacional Arqueològic de Tarragona
and ask them to replace the file with a valid, specifications-compliant
one.  This may mean creating the file using a different tool/method.
Make sure you mention the Acrobat error to them as well as the Evince
problem.
