I can confirm that parts of some of the images are missing, for example the graphs on pages 14 and 17. Interestingly, the missing parts vary at different page zoom levels.
Regarding some equations having incomplete text, can you attach some screenshots? I could not see anything obvious missing from the equations, so I viewed the document on a Windows machine running Adobe Reader 9.2 for comparison. The equations looked the same as on my Karmic 9.10 system. If this is not the case on your system, I think I know why - in addition to the screenshots, could you please attach the output of pdffonts?
