I agree that this bug could be due to the ALSA driver itself but I still don't think this is sane behaviour. As I already described, there used to be a different set of sliders in breezy, which was quite certainly correct since it was the same as in the soundcard control panel for Windows. And these duplicates really don't make sense at all. My particular soundcard has exactly one analog stereo input and one output.
