Hi Simon. I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. Writable CDs which have never been written to return an error when I try to mount them, but Nautilus doesn't provide an option to write stuff to them either (the "write to disk" button in the CD recorder appears greyed out and you can only write ISOs to an image file).
Moreover, the drive icon always appears in the drive applet even if the drive is empty - that was not the way it worked in Dapper, where it would only appear when media was inserted, and most surely it's not the way it's meant to work.
