Thanks for your report. Could you use Apport to provide us with more 
informations? You should run
sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport start

and then reproduce the crash. I'm now closing this report since Apport
will create a new one automatically.

By the way, if you're using network-manager to manage your connections
(System->Administration->Network connections), then the right package is
network-manager, not gnome-sytem-tools. But Apport will detect this for
you.
