I can reproduce this in Lucid Lynx 10.04 alpha 2 using the attached file. Typing evince multipageessai5.ps at the command prompt produces 6 copies of the error message "warning: ignoring zlib error: incorrect data check", and only the last page (with the writing "page 4 of 4") is displayed, with the thumbnail view on the left saying page 1 of 1. According to Evince's property menu item the file was created by XSane version 0.995 (sane 1.0) - by Oliver Rauch, and uses an Arch A paper size.
However something interesting happens when I use psrip to extract the images in this file. I end up with one file named xsane.ps - If I then type evince xsane.ps at a command propmpt the same error is displayed, but only 4 times, and all 4 pages of the document are displayed!
