I have a 10 yr old x86 computer with 512 MB RAM, and 698 MHz processor
speed. I like Ubuntu a lot. However, I have two problems with it. First,
I resized my screen resolution and shutdown the computer. When I turned
it on again, after I entered my password in the log in prompt, the
revolving glowing thing under the logo skipped and stopped several
times, and then disappeared and the log in prompt appeared again. I
restarted several times, with no result. I reinstalled Ubuntu 9.10, then
did the resolution change. Same result. I would appreciate any help.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
