I was just looking at how it normally operates and realized it automatically backed up the /home/b/.local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml to rhythmdb.xml.1. I still lost all the contents of my playlists but at least I recovered my ratings. When I have some free time, I'll DL the git and write up a patch to copy-on-write and restore at startup if corrupted.
