  I have taken ABSOLUTELY NO STEPS TO CAUSE me to encounter this problem!! I 
just opened a folder with Nautilus and this problem occured.

  I expect the folder background color to remain the white color that is system 
default color which is white when I open any folder!!!
  
  3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible):

  When a user opens any folder on the desktop the folder background (or 
wallpaper) changes color frequently from from the (system default of white) to 
any color in the spectrum including black and upon repeated openings of any 
affected folder the color will not be the (system default of white) using 
Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Dell version.
