Dave - I just tried using the
Option "Colortiling" "false" setting in my xorg.conf, and I still have the issue. So far, the only fix I've tried and had work is Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" This is on a 32mb 9200mobility card running Dapper. I don't know if it's related, but I also see 3D rendering errors which go away if I disable most of the DRI acceleration options - I'm only mentioning this in case they are somehow related.
