Odd- this happens for all files I've tried. I've attached a tarball that contains: - pdftest.odt - the resulting pdftest.pdf (written by OOo 3.2) - the file pdftest, linked to pdftest.pdf - a screenshot of the icons and file properties. Note that the suffixless version is recognized as type PDF - a screenshot of the error message when I open the suffixless version in evince

I'm not sure whether this is relevant. .recently-used.xbel is mode 600.
