Odd- this happens for all files I've tried.

I've attached a tarball that contains:
- pdftest.odt
- the resulting pdftest.pdf (written by OOo 3.2)
- the file pdftest, linked to pdftest.pdf
- a screenshot of the icons and file properties. Note that the suffixless
version is recognized as type PDF
- a screenshot of the error message when I open the suffixless version in evince

When run from the command line, I see this:
snafu$ evince Desktop/pdftest/pdftest
(evince:20751): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session
manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
(evince:20751): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to read the recently used resources
file at `/home/reece/.recently-used.xbel', but the parser failed: Failed to
open file '/home/reece/.recently-used.xbel': Permission denied.

I'm not sure whether this is relevant. .recently-used.xbel is mode 600.

Thanks,
Reece
