Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

[ Karmic / Ambiance ]

Currently metacity layout have only button for minimize, maximize and
close an application.

In Ubuntu some applications like Empathy, Gwibber and Evolution are
minimized to the Messaging Menu instead of being closed when we click
the 'close' button.

Sadly, this make the window workflow inconsistent because we, the users,
expect an application to close on clicking the close button.

For those applications there should be a 'hide' button to indicate that
they will go to the system tray (like Pino, Deluge, Messagin Menu ones,
etc.). It could be represented with a dot and a different background
colour.
