Basically at the moment the options for Instant Messaging are: Jabber Yahoo MSN AIM/iChat ICQ Groupwise I think that we could probably quite safely remove Groupwise and Jabber and replace them with Facebook and Skype? I tried to look up some hard statistics on IM protocols, but all I found was the information on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_messaging#User_base No stats on Jabber or Groupwise... I believe they are the least-used out of the above. Facebook and Skype on the other hand have the most users in the world so it would make sense to include them in the list of protocols :) Even Google Talk might be a good one to add too.
