** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center This is related to the new feature that allows switching the button position based upon the theme selected. Crash occurred when switching themes between Ambiance custom theme that had button placement in the right upper window corner. When I re-opened Appearances and went to themes, I was once again presented with the option to move the buttons back to the left side in Ambiance. This is being implemented in the right way, even if new bugs have been introduced. Whether or not it works is inconsistent though, as if not all indicators are being polled. Else it's in the dialog box itself that queries the user about their preference. Suggestion: Ask the user if they want the button position right or left, Asking if they want to "revert" is ambiguous. Does that mean the original position for that theme (and does it mean that theme only), as the button_layout data had edited with gconf or in the "traditional" upper right? - Yes, I'm one of the guys that's been editing metacity;s button_layout + Yes, I'm one of the guys that's been editing metacity's button_layout with gconf-editor. As of the moment button_layout is consistent with the Ambiance theme as originally designed. But when I tried to change back to Clearlooks, the button placement is still left (where I don't want it) and Appearance crashed again.
