Ok, i rebuilt the VM as it only takes about 10mins to recreate. I ran the following before the update:
sudo DISPLAY=:0 xprop -root |grep NAMES.S _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "SKIP", "gb,us", "mac,", "" and then again after the update: sudo DISPLAY=:0 xprop -root |grep NAMES.S _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "SKIP", "us", "U.S. English", "" The only way i can do anything is by using an ssh session to the VM at the moment. I cannot login into GDM. I have tried logging in remotely and doing a service gdm shutdown and then a start but makes no difference.
