My Synaptic doesn't list -dbg versions of libusb (I have both libusb-0.1-4 and libusb-1.0-0 installed, no -dbg packages for either), so I installed libusb-dev and libusb-1.0-0-dev with the hope that the development packages will have the necessary debug symbols. Synaptic also doesn't list a libmtp-dbg, so again I installed libmtp-dev. It does show a libglib2.0-0-dbg, which I did install.
