Upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 - login loop every single time - login screen showed up after a black screen blip. Shows a cl login prompt with the "correct" login ID name that disappeared right away.
Up pops a login screen. I login in, it takes the password, it starts to do something, the screen blanks and serves up the login screen instead of the deaskthop. it didn't matter if it was a dual boot with windows XP AND Breezy, because I deleted them, reloaded 9.10 successfully and tried to upgrade again = login loop it didn't matter if I loaded 10.4 with or without partitions because I deleted them. Another install, another login loop. it didn't matter if I repartitioned the drive using Create Partition from the 9.10 ubuntu live cd and loaded 10.04 from a restart or a total shut down. I am trying the shred command to see if maybe there was some kind of boot sector thing going on, the only thing I will know after that is my data is as gone as it can be and I truly regret hitting that little Upgrade Now button. It was a real vacation wrecker. I agree that the importance of this bug should be elevated. -- Login failure loop with Ubuntu 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
