I can confirm this problem: 1. it occured with 9.10 and after upgrade to 10.04 it's still there 2. with visual effects "normal", the problem is gone and with visual effects "none" it happens again.
Using 10.04 32bit (german), fglrx, gnome-terminal and any other program (gedit, firefox). The "Gtk-CRITICAL" message mentioned above appears after starting gnome-terminal with any visual effects.
